Knitting -vs- Crochet
can't we all just get along ? yet ?
Is Crochet the underdog fo' real?

I read the above articles and did not feel any different about my knitting passion . But I have to admit there are some good pro and con info here .... What do you think ?
I have said it before and I'll say again , to me knitting and crochet are da bomb hobbies, but my preference is knitting. I do think having minimal knowledge of the other is best ...Most knit pieces are embellished with crochet edges or fine stitching ...So a knitter is required to know how to single crochet at the very least , yes?

Talk of Tuesday

This past weekend I seamed Boogie !!! I have to crochet the edges on the sleeves and around the neck and wala !!!! I am excited because I can actually wear this creation !!! GO ME !!!!!!!!!!! It fits !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am being diligent in cranking out these Wips.I'm doing well, though . Even hubby made comments... I want new projects on the needles for 2007 ! I'll post my 2007 knitting goals in a few days ...Stay tuned...

I have what I call my "work knit" that I can effortlessly work on at my desk while on the long techie phone calls ...I have the scarf that I am making with me today...
It is knit in basic stock. st. The plan is to sew soft, warm fleece on the wrong side so it lays straight ( no curling) and is extra warm and cozy . I am using Noro yarn , but am not sure what exactly because I do not have the label with me. It is snubly and variegates in a way that only Noro can. You know what I mean. I tried to ignore the Noro craze, but last Sp8 , my pal sent me two balls of this funky yarn and that was my intro into Yarn Snob Ville. I know will not buy any ugcrylic . Not because I am a yarn snob, but because I like quality and want lasting, natural knits ... I know there will be those days that I find a real fancy acrylic or a nice blend ..I am not a snob~ I may buy it ...but it must be special ....

CAUTION: proud mom moment :
Last night my son performed a rap song with two other classmates at the city council meeting and dinner.
My city, Bridgeport, was recently chosen as on of the top 100 communities for families. Schools across the city were asked to submit pieces to illustrate what students thought of their community and schools... My son and his 2 friends wrote a rap and entered it into a city contest.. Can I tell you how proud I was to learn that out of over 1200 entries they were finalist! To see my 11 year old getting busy on the mic in front of the city mayor and town officials was a Kodak moment...Talk about proud ...
My son has a great speaking voice and he is a good performer so it was nice to see him shine ....there will be more to come I know ...

Tonight we go to the Holiday concert. I get to each son on the stage with their classmates singing ,this will be great as well. I believe my son will be rapping again. I will try to get their early so I can take some really good pics. We are always the late family ...But I already told them all in 2007 We have to be the early birds....I hate being late .That is one of our family goals for double 07 ( 2007) .

I have been wearing heels lately and as Beyonce says, upgraded my wardrobe. It's really fun to be a girl again. I think I have successfully broke the mommy mode of wearing baggy jeans and hubby's sweats..( ok I still slip into his sweats when I can, they are just so comfy! ) But I have made a real effort of looking good and I do feel good about that .. but today a girl can't wait to get home and slide up out these heels... lol

I enjoyed the work Christmas party , surprisingly...I danced surprisingly. It was fun.
I have accepted the fact that there are some real cool peeps at work. So I'll accept that fact.

This weekend I am treating my toes to a prayer and a pedicure . ( it's that serious !)
These eyebrows need a hook up too. so it's going to be one of those weekends...
tomorrow hubby and I are going out for a little reggae and dancing ..
Last weekend was fun and broke our 6 month hiatus when we hit the dancehall !
I did not give you details on our date , but I had a good time with hubby , as usual ..

I ate with chop sticks last night ! I am very excited about that !
I have had the pleasure of spending time with my brother's wife , who is Korean and she is a very special person.
I am truly inspired by her and all she does. She is lovely ...Thank you girl..she has changed my mind about school, my age and even math.. I feel blessed to have gotten a chance to hear her perspective on things...
I even brought her to the BP knitting meet up ....she is knitting a garter stitch scarf ... " not because I like ,but of you" she says .. translation: knitting aint' my thing chick , but I'm doing it cause I'm supporting you .. " lol....

I have been kind of out of the loop with my knitting of late. I am fixing that this week end though ..don't fear. At this point in my life I feel I am just making excuses and that is not good at all..So I am looking things in the face and seeing where the heck I can improve ...

I went out Wed.night for a little music and dancing. I have not gone out for a long while ; it was good to get my groove on with hubby and hear some hot new music from my favorite local d.j.Sibling .....It was fun ...

I have upgraded my wardrobe and revamped my look . I'm now officially almost 30 and trying to just do this aging thing gracefully !!!
so far I am happy with it all and feel a lot more powerful and confident when I do make an effort to look nice or feminine. I don't mind, it will take some getting used to keep this up. but it is worth it for me ...

We ended up getting a Pathfinder , did I already show you her . I will have to figure out what's up with my diggie camera and take some pics to update you visually on my life...

any ways .......

I am ready to seam up the Boogie Vest . She took me over a month to complete .. I was aiming for two weeks, lol...but I am not complaining...I will finish the last few rows and seam tonight....I will be going to my the LYS, knotty girl tomorrow to meet up with my knittah sistah friend Atarah. She and I will be discussing the future of the Black Purls knitting and crochet circle...We are growing as a group and with that comes the good and the bad.....feel me ? But I am glad my knitting group has developed and continues to thrive. I will try to blog more about the knitting circle ...

I have not blogged on Nano writing challenge yet, but here goes ....I have 62 pages of my long thought about novel written!
I truly love Nano, and although I only wrote 21,000...uhm that's still 21,000 words !!! I am very proud of my self for accomplishment ! I have nothing to fear , I know that now. I barely slept in November because of trying to get the words out . but no problem. I never written so much in effort to complete my book.....yet me!!!

I love the fact that I am writing passionately about something that I like . It was such a luxury to type on my laptop all November....
I was forced against the wall and so I was forced to push my creativity and create a story with characters with life and drama ..I can't wait to finish ...and to start again ...

This week end I will knit , write , catch up on reading and get some shopping in ..

Did Mike kill that red head? What is up with Orson and Bree and that dreadful visiting mother -in -law?Desperate Housewife strikes again! I am still faithfully glued to my television on Sunday evenings watching this dreadful television show. I like the writing . Did you see when Suzanne snuck back into Bree's home after storming out only to sneak off with Orson's office key? Okay and is that freaky neighbor with the sister really a molester/ what was really up with all those pics of topless little boys? And isn't Orson's mother a sneaky old bag ? Was that Selma she linked up with before the show's end tonight ? huh ?
These poker playing daytime diva's are always to some thing !

I am grateful to have my lap top now and can drag the PC into the living room to take in my trash t.v. while I write .
I have been writing all weekend and my house is a mess. I have 4 more days of Nano left and I am trying to reach the goal of 50,000 words. I will reveal my word count on the last day . I may just jinx my self talking to much about it too much.
On the knitting front , there will be no knitting until after the 3oth, which is also my birthday and Nano comes to an end. But I am up to the neck on my Buggy vest and look forward to seaming up and wearing her very soon.

In addition to writing until my elbow ached, I raked leaves this weekend and bought a used Nissan Pathfinder! We named her Cherry because of her dark burgundy color. I am loving her ; she passed the test drive with flying colors.... and we drove home to our anxious children ....

Nothing much happening except trying to finishing up National writing month strong. That means I will not be back blogging until after the 3oth when my life becomes my own again.
